Absorbency
Contours
Contour diapers are similar to fitted diapers but do not have closures. They are shaped to fit the baby's body and typically require a separate cover. The absorbency of contour diapers can vary depending on the material used and the number of layers.
Fitteds
Fitted diapers are contoured diapers that have closures, such as snaps or hook-and-loop fasteners. They are usually made of absorbent materials like cotton, bamboo, or hemp, and often require a separate cover. Fitted diapers tend to have a high absorbency due to the multiple layers of absorbent fabric.
Flats
Flats are large, square-shaped pieces of fabric, usually made of cotton or bamboo, that are folded and secured with pins or a Snappi to create a diaper shape. Flats are quite absorbent and they can be folded in different ways to increase absorbency. As such, they are versatile and can be used as inserts or boosters in other diapers for added absorbency.
Inserts
Inserts can be placed inside pocket diapers, all-in-two diapers, or covers. They come in various materials like microfiber, bamboo, hemp, or cotton, and offer different levels of absorbency. Some inserts have multiple layers or a combination of different fabrics to provide higher absorbency.
Preflats
Preflats are similar to flats but come pre-folded and sewn into a diaper-shape. They are typically made of cotton or bamboo and offer good absorbency. Preflats can also be folded in different ways to adjust the absorbency level as needed.
Prefolds
Prefolds are rectangular-shaped diapers with multiple layers of fabric. They have a thicker middle section for additional absorbency. Prefolds are usually made of cotton or bamboo and can be used with a separate cover. They offer good absorbency and are often used as a cost-effective option for cloth diapering.
